Ogun State Shortens School Hours As It Announces Date for School Resumption



Amidst the current global situation,the Ogun State Government has announced the resumption of schools in the state.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Kunle Somorin, in a statement, it was made known that the reopening of schools is to take effect on the 21st of September, 2020.

The order as was giving applies to all classes in primary and secondary, technical and vocational colleges, and tertiary institutions of learning, with exemption of Early Child Care Development and Infant classes.


The following are the stipulated hours for the different classes as stated by the Ogun State Government.

Following this development, school hours are going to be staggered for public schools, as part of COVID-19 guidelines.

Pupils in Primary One(1) to three(3) will be in school from 8:00 AM to 11:00AM; while those in primary four(4) to six(6) will be in classes from 12:00PM to 3:00PM respectively.

Secondary schools will also follow in the same order with those in Junior and Senior Classes.Technical and Vocational will be about their studies in their normal school hours of 8:00AM to 2:00PM.

Somorin, in his statement, maintained that Early Child Care Development and educational classes for infants from three(3) to give(5) will not take effect in public schools until the next phase of school reopening.

He added that tertiary institutions are allowed as from the 21st of September as may be seen fit by their respective managements.
